The Smart Communities team supports communities and local groups to deliver services and fill gaps. We are experienced at working with any and every level to help you realise successful projects which meet identified needs.

Our Current Projects

Food Resilience

Are you providing meals or access to food to your local community? Do you want to start helping those in need? We can help! With funding, advice, equipment & ingredients!

The Smart Communities team could give you the tools your community needs to set up a food bank, collection services, or funds to buy fridges, freezers, and other equipment to help you store food safely, and help stock them with food for the people in your local area.

West Somerset Car Scheme

The West Somerset Car scheme is about matching up individuals who have no means of transport in West Somerset.

How it works:

  • We receive an agency staff referral.
  • If eligible, we pass the applicant’s details to West Somerset Advice for a full financial assessment to ensure the applicant can afford the running and maintenance costs of the vehicle.
  • Once they have completed the assessment and pass the criteria, we can match the applicant up with a FREE vehicle
  • Somerset residents donate second-hand cars that are in working order but no longer needed.
  • We also provide aftercare.

Chat to Connect – now closed

Chat to Connect was a service for clinically extremely vulnerable (CEV) adults in Somerset. In 2021 we connected CEV people together to keep their spirits up, stay connected to stay well and not feel alone.

Clients were identified by the CCS Village and Community Agents and had the opportunity to connect with others.
