The Smart Communities team supports communities and local groups to deliver services and fill gaps. We are experienced at working with any and every level to help you realise successful projects which meet identified needs.
Our Current Projects

Smart Communities Ltd has been commissioned by SALC to work with 14 Town and Parish Councils to help them create a Community Plan.
We will support Somerset Parish and Town Councils from start to finish including an Action plan and funding suggestions. This offer is for FREE support and will help you be ready for the future with a clear understanding of your community’s needs.

Chat to Connect – now closed
Chat to Connect was a service for clinically extremely vulnerable (CEV) adults in Somerset. In 2021 we connected CEV people together to keep their spirits up, stay connected to stay well and not feel alone.
Clients were identified by the CCS Village and Community Agents and had the opportunity to connect with others.

West Somerset Car Scheme
The West Somerset Car scheme matched individuals who have no means of transport in West Somerset with a donated veichal.
How it worked:
- We received an agency staff referral.
- If eligible, we pass the applicant’s details to West Somerset Advice for a full financial assessment to ensure the applicant can afford the running and maintenance costs of the vehicle.
- Once they have completed the assessment and pass the criteria, we can match the applicant up with a FREE vehicle
- Somerset residents donate second-hand cars that are in working order but no longer needed.
- We also provided aftercare.
